Project Safe Neighborhoods Rental Property Owner and Manager Course
Schedule
The sessions will be held in the Grand Prairie conference room in the
Tippecanoe County Building, 20 North 3rd Street , from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

The course includes Federal, State and Local law
and provides instruction on Preparing the Property, Code Requirements,
Applicant Screening, Ongoing Management, Apartment Watch/Promoting
Community, Warning Signs of Drug Activity, Clandestine Labs, Crisis
Resolution, The Role of the Police, US Department of Housing and Urban
Development, and Resources to Use Today. The course includes tools such
as Neighborhood Associations and Crime Watch Programs (maps and contact
information), Sample forms (Fair Housing and Section 504 Policies,
Reasonable Accommodation Policy Statement, Verification Form of Need for
Accessible Unit, Residents' Reasonable Accommodation Request Form,
Criminal History Policy, Crime Free Lease Addendum, Facsimile Applicant
Rental Verification Form, Post Rental Application Verification Form, and
Property Maintenance Checklist for Rental Property Owners/Managers); and
Community Resources (Tippecanoe County Law Enforcement agencies contact
listings, Tippecanoe County Fire Departments, City of Lafayette and West
Lafayette Government Resources).
Two supplementary presentations have been added to the core
course curriculum:
* Illegal Drug Identification, Dan Shoemaker, Detective, Lafayette
Police Department
* Gang Identification, Pat Harrington, Tippecanoe County Prosecutor
